The Usual

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

The service

The Usual provides branded online ordering storefronts for merchants, built on data the merchant connects from their point-of-sale provider (such as Square). Merchants remain solely responsible for their menus, prices, fulfillment, food safety, and compliance with local law. The Usual is not the seller of any food or goods offered through a merchant's storefront.

Orders and payments

Payments are processed by the merchant's own payment provider; The Usual does not hold customer funds. Refunds, cancellations, and order disputes are between the customer and the merchant, under the merchant's policies.

Menu descriptions

Storefronts may display automatically generated marketing descriptions derived from the merchant's own item names and descriptions. Merchants can review, edit, or disable these at any time and are responsible for verifying all ingredient, allergen, and dietary wording. Customers with allergies or dietary requirements should confirm directly with the merchant before ordering.

Accounts

Customer accounts are keyed to a mobile phone number and secured with one-time codes. Merchants and their staff are responsible for safeguarding their dashboard credentials.

Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service: no unlawful content, no interference with other merchants' storefronts, no attempts to circumvent security or rate limits.

Liability

The service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Usual's aggregate liability is limited to the fees paid by the merchant in the preceding three months.
